پرایمینگ بذر توسط میدان‌های مغناطیسی (مگنتو پرایمینگ) به‌عنوان راهکاری اکولوژیک، مؤثر و ارزان قیمت برای بهبود خصوصیات جوانه‌زنی و سبز شدن گیاهان مطرح است. به‌منظور بررسی رفتار جوانه‌زنی کنجد تحت تأثیر میدان‌های مغناطیسی، آزمایشی در سال 1393 به‌صورت طرح کاملاً تصادفی با 22 تیمار (عدم قرارگیری در معرض میدان مغناطیسی (شاهد) و 21 تیمار مگنتو پرایمینگ) و با سه تکرار در دانشکده کشاورزی دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد اجرا شد. بذرهای کنجد به‌صورت توده‌ای درون یک کیسه پلاستیکی نازک قرار گرفته و سپس توسط میدان‌های مغناطیسی با شدت (25، 50، 75 و 100 میلی تسلا) و زمان‌های قرارگیری مختلف (10، 20، 30، 60 و 120 دقیقه برای هر شدت) تیمار شدند. به‌منظور بررسی خصوصیات جوانه‌زنی کنجد تحت تأثیر میدان مغناطیسی دائم، از نوارهای مغناطیسی با قدرت 3 میلی تسلا در زیر هر پتری در طول مدت آزمایش استفاده شد. نتایج نشان داد که میدان‌های مغناطیسی اثر معنی‌داری بر درصد جوانه‌زنی نهایی نداشتند. پرایمینگ بذرها با میدان مغناطیسی با شدت 50 میلی تسلا به مدت 20 دقیقه منجر به افزایش سرعت جوانه‌زنی نسبت به تیمار شاهد شد اما کلیه سطوح تیمار 100 میلی تسلا منجر به کاهش سرعت جوانه‌زنی نسبت به تیمار شاهد شدند. در این آزمایش بیشترین طول ریشه‌چه، طول گیاهچه و نیز شاخص طولی بنیه گیاهچه متعلق به تیمار 75 میلی تسلا به مدت 60 دقیقه و بیشترین وزن خشک گیاهچه و شاخص وزنی بنیه گیاهچه متعلق به تیمار 100 میلی تسلا برای 20 دقیقه بود. درجه‌بندی تیمارها نشان داد که قرار گرفتن بذرها به مدت یک ساعت در معرض میدانی با شدت 75 میلی تسلا و نیز 10 دقیقه در معرض 25 میلی تسلا بهترین نتایج را به دنبال دارند.
