انار در بین محصولات باغی، از جایگاه خاصی برخوردار بوده و مبارزه با بیماری‌های آن در راستای افزایش عملکرد این محصول ضروری است. نماتدهای غده ریشه (Meloidogyne spp.) از عوامل خسارتزا در باغهای انار می‌باشند . انار یکی از گیاهان حساس نسبت به گونه‌های مختلف این نماتدها است. نماتدهای غده ریشه انگل داخلی ساکن ریشه هستند که پس از ورود به بافت ریشه با ایجاد غده هایی روی ریشه باعث ضعف عملکرد ریشه در جذب و انتقال آب و مواد غذایی شده، در نتیجه در قسمت‌های هوایی درخت نشانه های توقف رشد، ضعف عمومی، زردی و ریزش برگ‌ها و خشک شدن تدریجی سرشاخه‌ها همراه با کاهش عملکرد دیده می‌شود. در شرایط مناسب رطوبت و حرارت تخم‌های نماتد تفریخ و لارو سن دوم از آنها خارج می‌شود. لاروهای سن دوم موجود در خاک مرحله بیمارگر این نماتدها می‌باشند. مدیریت این بیماری به روش رعایت اصول بهداشتی، مراقبت از باغهای سالم، احداث نهالستان در مناطق سالم، شخم سالیانه باغ، استفاده از سیستم آبیاری قطره‌ای، آفتاب‌دهی خاک، بالا بردن میزان مواد آلی خاک و تقویت درختان می‌باشد.
