بیماری کپک خاکستری ناشی از قارچ Botrytis cinerea یکی از مهم‌ترین بیماری‌های پس از برداشت میوه‌ها و سبزی‌های تازه در سراسر جهان است. بیماری می‌تواند در مزرعه شروع شود، به‌صورت نهفته باقی بماند یا پس از برداشت در مراحل حمل‌ونقل، بسته‌بندی، ذخیره‌سازی و بازاریابی گسترش پیدا کند. امروزه در کشاورزی رایج اولین راهبرد برای مهار بیماری، استفاده از سموم شیمیایی است، ولی نگرانی‌ از وجود بقایای سموم در میوه‌ها و سبزی‌ها، باعث افزایش تحقیق برای پیدا کردن روش­های سالم و مؤثر مدیریت بیماری شده است. مدیریت تلفیقی بیماری با اصلاح شیوه آبیاری و کوددهی بهینه، مبارزه زیستی،  استفاده از مواد حیاتی، ضدعفونی میوه­ها پس از برداشت ، نگهداری وحمل میوه­ها در انبار و کانتینر با هوای خنک، رطوبت کم و تهویه مناسب پیشنهاد شده است.
