 گندم یکی از مهم‌ترین گیاهان زراعی است که به طور گسترده در ایران و جهان برای غذای انسان و دام کشت می‌شود. این محصول توسط عوامل مختلفی از جمله قارچ‌ها مورد حمله قرار می‌گیرد. قارچ‌های گندمیان‌زی بیمارگران مهمی هستند که در گندم پوسیدگی ریشه و طوقه، لکه برگی و نقطه سیاه ایجاد می‌کنند. روش‌هایی با کارایی زیاد و ایمن برای انسان و محیط زیست برای مبارزه با آن‌ها به کار گرفته شده است. از آن‌جا که فعالیت این قارچ‌ها به عواملی مانند دما، اسیدیته، رطوبت و مواد غذایی موجود در خاک بستگی دارد، انجام درست عملیات زراعی قبل از کاشت و آبیاری و کوددهی مناسب، در مهار این عوامل بسیار مؤثر خواهد بود. از طرف دیگر انواعی از گونه‌های Trichoderma و قارچ‌ریشه‌های آربوسکولی و برخی باکتری‌ها به روش‌هایی مانند تولید بیوفیلم، افزایش رشد گیاه و تولید آنزیم بیماری را مهار می‌کنند. به طور کلی مبارزه تلفیقی با استفاده از چند روش به طور هم‌زمان بهترین نتیجه را می‌دهد.
