 آفت­ کش­های زیستی از نماتدهای بیمارگر حشرات به روش­ها و با مواد مختلفی در یک دهه اخیر تولید شده­اند. اما تولید چنین آفت­ کش­هایی همواره به دلیل کیفیت کم محصول نهایی، کارایی پایین آنها در کاربرد مزرعه­ای  با محدودیتهایی همراه بوده است. اخیراً پیشرفتهای قابل توجهی در زمینه افزایش زمان بقای فرمولاسیونهای حاوی نماتدهای بیماریزای حشرات به­دست آمده است. فرمولاسیونهای گرانول قابل پخش در آب و کپسولهای آلجینات کلسیم، بقای این نماتدها را از هفت روز به 180 روز افزایش داده­اند. همچنین فرمولاسیونهای مبتنی بر استفاده از اجساد حشرات میزبان که حاوی نماتدهای بیمارگر حشرات هستند، نسبت به محلولهای آبی حاوی این گروه از نماتدها کارایی بالاتری در کنترل آفات نشان داده­اند. روشهای نوین تولید انبوه آفت­کشهای زیستی از نماتدهای بیمارگر حشرات  با استفاده از خطوط تولید خودکار و به­کارگیری افزودنیهای جدید با خواص بهتر برای کاربردهای مزرعه­ای و افزایش میزان عفونت­زایی این نماتدها در آفات، در این مقاله شرح داده شده­اند.
