جوانه‌زنی کارآمد بذر و ظهور سریع و یکنواخت گیاهچه در راندمان تولید محصول مهم هستند؛ بنابراین استفاده از راهکارهایی برای بهبود جوانه‌زنی و استقرار گیاهچه برای بالا بردن میزان تولید محصول ضروری می‌باشد. هیدروپرایمینگ یک تکنیک ساده پیش از جوانه‌زنی است که باعث بهبود عملکرد بذر می‌شود. در این تحقیق تأثیر دوره‌های مختلف هیدروپرایمینگ (10، 24، 48 و 72 ساعت) در دماهای مختلف (10 و 25 درجه سانتی‌گراد) و در مقایسه با بذرهای پرایم نشده روی صفات جوانه‌زنی در پنج جمعیت خارمریم (اهواز، ساری، اصفهان، دزفول و گچساران) مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. آزمایش به‌صورت فاکتوریل در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی با سه تکرار اجرا شد. کیفیت جوانه‌زنی توسط درصد نهایی جوانه‌زنی، میانگین زمان جوانه‌زنی، ضریب سرعت جوانه‌زنی، شاخص تیمسون، T50 و شاخص‌های رشد و ویگور گیاهچه ارزیابی شد. نتایج نشان داد که هیدروپرایمینگ در دمای 10 درجه سانتی‌گراد تأثیر بهتری روی عملکرد جوانه‌زنی بذور خارمریم در مقایسه با هیدروپرایمینگ در دمای 25 درجه سانتی‌گراد دارد. به‌علاوه، مقایسه پاسخ شاخص‌های جوانه‌زنی و رشد به دوره‌های مختلف هیدروپرایمینگ در پنج جمعیت خارمریم نشان داد که بهترین دوره هیدروپرایمینگ برای جمعیت‌های اهواز و گچساران 72 ساعت، برای ساری و دزفول 48 و 72 ساعت و برای اصفهان 10 و 24 ساعت می‌باشد؛ بنابراین، تأثیر هیدروپرایمینگ روی کیفیت جوانه‌زنی به جمعیت گونه گیاهی، دما و زمان هیدروپرایمینگ وابسته است و به این ترتیب انتخاب بهترین شرایط هیدروپرایمینگ به بهبود قابلیت جوانه‌زنی و بنیه بذر کمک می‌کند.
